< METAMORPHOSIS OF VIVALDI’S FOUR SEASONS > featuring Uli Jon Roth & Sky Orchestra
contains Uli’s unique interpretation of Antonio Vivaldi’s timeless masterpiece “The Four Seasons” as well as a new Concerto by U.J.R. - “Metamorphosis”.
The album comes in a Digi-pack, complete with an unprecedented 64-page booklet including stunning artwork and extensive liner-notes and poetry by Uli.
Metamorphosis is divided into 24 tracks connected by soundscapes and narration. “This piece represents a new pinnacle of the art of guitar playing and is full of boldness and innovation.”
The artwork is presented in the same ‘cinema-scope’ format, which was already previously pioneered by U.J.R. on his “Prologue” album - an invention which effectively doubles the viewing size of the artwork. Uli arrived at this solution because of his complete frustration with the conventional CD format, which he thinks is far too small in order to reproduce anything pleasing to the eye - unlike the old, much larger format of LPs, which is sadly long gone and sorely missed by many a record collector.
The substantial delay in the European release was due to the fact that virtually all the major CD manufacturing facilities in Europe passed on the printing and claimed it could not be done. However, Uli’s record company, SPV persevered and insisted on making this possible, because they firmly believed in Uli’s artistic vision and spared no expense until a way was eventually found. The result is a must for any serious collector as the artwork of this album strongly reinforces the power of its music.
< METAMORPHOSIS > has recently been released in Europe and Japan and will be officially released in North America on February 24, 2004.
